JOB TITLE/POSITION : Out of School Support worker (funded to March 2016 with possibility of further funding)
QUALIFICATION : Relevant Qualification at SVQ Level 2 in Playwork/Childcare Learning & Development or equivalent
EXPERIENCE : Experience in working with children aged 5 – 12 years with additional support needs is essential
HOURS : 17 hrs per week

START DATE asap

SALARY £7.55 per hour

This is an exciting opportunity to join Wandsworth Education and Social Services as a Social Worker in our Complex Social Work, Hospital Discharge, First Response or Community Learning Disability Teams. As a registered Social Worker, you will be responsible for promoting the well-being and independence of service users and carers through self-directed support and providing residents who are eligible for services with a joined-up response to the support they require. This includes prioritising safeguarding adults at risk; promoting choice and control whilst taking into consideration best interest decisions; empowering individuals to use their strengths, resources and informal networks for support and engaging with the wider community; and delivering quality care and support in partnership with individuals, families and communities.

Residential Support Worker for Children’s Home

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Residential Support Worker to work within one of our Children’s Residential homes in Ilford. Within this home we provide care for young people between the ages of 11 to 17 with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.

The role of a Residential Support Worker is to support young people within a supported living service. Our Support Workers ensure that the young people receive the highest standard of support/care appropriate to their individual needs. The primary objective is to enable our young people to become emotionally stable and self sufficient in order to live independently. We achieve this by offering a space that is both safe and homely for young people to explore themselves, with a staff team that is unique, consistent and supportive.

Experience Required:
Experience of working with young people specifically within a residential environment
Experience of working with young people that have EBD

Qualifications Required:

Homecare Support Worker

Join our friendly team doing care work supporting vulnerable people in their own homes, with personal hygiene/ care, cooking, companionship and cleaning.

Mondays to Fridays 6pm – 10pm and Saturday’s 8am-2pm & 4pm – 10pm.

You will be working in a double up team as a carer and the driver. A smart car will be provided including all expenses paid by Personnel and Care Bank.

You will be moving from home to home throughout the day spending time with each client depending on their needs.

We require you to have:

Assistant Support Worker

Look Ahead provides a wide range of specialist care, support and accommodation services to over 8,000 people every year across London and the South East.

We work with local authorities and health trusts to support individuals with a variety of needs including mental health, homelessness and learning and physical disabilities, We also work with young people, teenage parents and those with experiences of offending and substance misuse.

This innovative service will provide a new approach and opportunity for those that have a mental health needs and have had links to the criminal justice system. Focusing on the principles of recover and relational security this 24-hour service will deliver a programme of support and risk management that focuses on personal goals and the attainment of the skills necessary to successfully live independently.

As a result Look Ahead is looking for experienced, dedicated people with the interpersonal skills and ‘can do’ mindset necessary to form the team that will realise this flagship service.

Assistant Support Workers will form an integral part of the team, providing 24-hour ‘core support’ through sleep-in arrangements they will support responses to emerging needs and lead on site-based activities and support.

Key Responsibilities:

 If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include delivering personal and physical care as appropriate.

 Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.

 Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker.

 Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed.

 Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including eg accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, to enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities.

 Report any observations relating to customers welfare.

• Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Housing & Care plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements
