Inshore Monitoring Officer

JNCC is seeking an Inshore Habitats Monitoring Officer who will contribute to JNCC’s work on developing options for benthic habitats monitoring, along with methods and protocols for monitoring seabed habitats.

The post-holder will work under the guidance of the Marine Habitats Monitoring Manager and contribute to the development of the UK Marine Biodiversity Monitoring R&D Programme. There will be a focus on the inshore benthic environment but close working with the Offshore Habitats Monitoring Officer will also be required. The duties will involve working with other marine staff within JNCC as well as with partners in the country conservation agencies, and with others such as Cefas and Marine Scotland Science.

The post is based in Peterborough and will be offered on a permanent basis.

Wildlife Sites Officer

We are currently recruiting for a fixed term 18 months Wildlife Sites Officer to work in the South Wales Valleys.

Overall purpose of job

To work with partner organisations, landowners and the local communities in the Rhondda Valleys to promote the sustainable long-term management of upland grassland habitats through landowner liaison, community engagement, data collection and practical habitat management.

Experience

The post holder should have a minimum of 2 years experience of practical conservation, with a good understanding of upland grassland and heathland habitats, their management objectives and associated species. The post holder must also have experience with engaging with and inspiring local communities and volunteers.
