Policy Researcher (01916)

Category: Jobs | Department: International Unit | Location: London | Post Type: Full Time | Closing Date: 12 Sep 2016 |
The UK Higher Education International Unit represents UK universities internationally and helps them meet their international aims. We do this by actively promoting UK universities abroad, providing trusted information, and creating new opportunities through our ability to act at sector level. We draw on UK university expertise to influence policy in the UK and overseas, and deliver information, advice and guidance to overseas governments and sector bodies, as well as to our own universities, to enable collaboration with the broadest possible range of international partners for mutual benefit.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the work of Universities UK’s International Unit and its Go International programme in delivering the UK Strategy for Outward Mobility. You will have strong analytical and research skills, preferably in higher education or public policy context, with experience of extracting and analysing complex qualitative and quantitative data from a wide variety of sources. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate complex information to different audiences in a comprehensive, clear and concise form. Experience of converting complex information into online resources or toolkits would be an advantage, but not essential.

You will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain a range of stakeholder relationships to support the delivery of project objectives. Familiarity with outward student mobility or widening participation programmes in higher education would be advantageous, but is not essential.

In August 2016, our name is changing from the UK HE International Unit (IU) to Universities UK International (UUKi). This recognises our status as an integral part of Universities UK (UUK), increasingly funded by its members to play a unique role in supporting their international activity as part of the sector’s major representative body. The new logo and visual identity will be operational from 1st September.
