Data Analyst (01316)

Category: Jobs | Department: Medical Schools Council | Location: London | Post Type: Full Time | Closing Date: 19 Jun 2016 |
The Medical Schools Council is seeking an experienced data analyst to set up the data function within a small and busy team working at the healthcare and higher education interface. Current policy priorities include widening participation, student admissions, equality and inclusion, medical research and assessment. The post holder would have the ability to respond flexibly to changes in the policy environment, to adjust priorities accordingly, and to manage their own workload to tight deadlines.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter to set up the data function within the team, and to develop the role. You will be tasked with a ‘hands on’ approach in sourcing data, manipulating large data sets, and identifying and interpreting trends and patterns of information. We will support you with the relevant software packages, training opportunities and career progression. We are looking for someone with vision, initiative and ideas, to help to identify opportunities offered through data and information; to improve processes and ways of data collection, recording and processing; and to enhance the evidence base in the development of national policy in healthcare education and assessments.

The Medical Schools Council is a membership organisation for the 33 publicly funded UK medical schools. The Secretariat provides support for five organisations at the healthcare and higher education interface: the Medical Schools Council (MSC), the Dental Schools Council (DSC), the Pharmacy Schools Council (DSC), the Veterinary Schools Council (VSC) and the Association of UK University Hospitals (AUKUH). The Secretariat also supports three related organisations in assessment: MSC Assessment, MSC Assessment Alliance and MSC Selection Alliance.

The majority of work by the role holder will be to support the Medical Schools Council (including joint work with the General Medical Council on the UK Medical Education Database), MSC Assessment (including the Prescribing Safety Assessment) and MSC Selection Alliance (including work on outreach and widening participation).
