Committee & Policy Assistant (01216)

Category: Jobs | Department: Universities Scotland | Location: Edinburgh | Post Type: Full Time | Closing Date: 12 Jun 2016 |
Universities Scotland is the representative body of Scotland's 19 higher education institutions. We develop policy on behalf of the university sector and campaign publicly on higher education issues.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and able individual to fill the role of Committee & Policy Assistant, working in both the Resources & Governance and Research & Innovation teams. The successful candidate will primarily provide administrative and committee clerk / secretariat support to a number of policy committees and will also support the work of Senior Policy Officers by contributing to the analysis and development of policy affecting (i) the resourcing and governance of higher education institutions and (ii) academic research and its dissemination in the wider economy and society. The post holder will also provide secretariat support directly to an external organisation, the Board for Academic Medicine.

Applicants should ideally have relevant experience from work and/or voluntary roles. Experience of committee administrator / secretariat work would be a strong advantage. The post is offered as a full time role, but may suit applicants seeking alternative working patterns, including some reduced hours arrangements such as term-time only, and we would welcome applications on this basis.

The successful candidate will be working in a small team where enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to work with others will be required.

Closing date for applications is midnight, 12 June 2016.

Interviews will be held on 24 June 2016 at the Universities Scotland office in Edinburgh. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to prepare a short assessment exercise ahead of the interview.

Please contact Daniel Wedgwood, Senior Policy Officer, Resources & Governance (dan@universities-scotland.ac.uk / 0131 225 0719), if you wish to discuss the post in greater detail.
