Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford

The newly established Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The Clinical Trial Service Unit (CTSU) is a major international research institute within the NDPH, and is one of the worlds leading centres for research into chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease.

ASCEND is a UK mail and web-based, blinded, randomised study of about 15,000 people, designed to assess whether aspirin and/or omega-3 fatty acid supplements safely reduce the risk of vascular events in people with diabetes who do not have pre-existing vascular disease. This study is now in the follow-up phase and all aspects are coordinated by a dedicated team at CTSU.

As Clinical Trial Administrator you will take on a varied role in support of the senior trial administrators. This offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and expertise in many aspects of managing a large-scale clinical trial, within a multi-disciplinary research team. There may also be opportunities to gain experience on other trials. You will have a degree, ideally in a scientific discipline (and/or equivalent experience), effective organisational and communication skills (both written and oral) and meticulous attention to detail. You should demonstrate a flexible and analytic approach and be able to work effectively both as part of a busy team and independently.

This post is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 10 December 2014 and the interviews will be held on 18 December 2014.
