Sustrans, the charity that’s enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day, is seeking to employ a self-motivated individual in the following key vacancies:

Senior Project Officer, Smarter Choices (ref: SUS1318)
circa £25,000 per annum (dependent on relevant skills and experience)
plus London Weighting allowance of £3,299 p/a if based in London
6 month contract – two vacancies – 37.5 hours per week
Based in Birmingham or London but must be willing to travel within the UK

This is a great opportunity for enthusiastic individuals who would enjoy the variety of working in different locations to support the development, initiation, delivery and completion of a range of sustainable transport behaviour-change projects in response to demands from project teams across the UK. These roles will require frequent travel to project locations and the flexibility for the postholder to stay away from home for extended periods may be required.

Educated to degree level or equivalent with extensive experience of project management including budgeting, working to deadlines, prioritisation of tasks and stakeholder engagement, you will be experienced in delivering projects and implementing project exit strategies as well as being skilled in tender preparation and development of business cases. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to quickly establish productive working relationships and be adaptable to working in a range of different teams and settings. You will also have a knowledge and understanding of sustainable transport planning and models of behaviour change. IT literacy is essential, as is your commitment to the promotion of sustainable transport.

The Argyll Fisheries Trust is seeking to employ a Rivers and Fisheries Officer to meet its objectives towards the sustainability of wild freshwater fish and their habitats in Argyll.

Based at the AFT office at Inveraray, the person will be part of a team developing programmes to restore and support wild fish populations underpinned by monitoring and research. An understanding of the issues surrounding wild salmon and sea trout is essential, and a familiarity of aquaculture and forestry practices would be an advantage.

AFT is looking for an individual with a degree in a scientific or environmental discipline who has practical experience working in the field. The successful candidate for the post will be enthusiastic, aspires to develop, is self motivated, and able to work well within a team.

Ideally the applicant should also be qualified to SFCC team leader standards in electro fishing. A full driving licence and familiarity with GIS mapping is essential.

We are currently seeking an Administration and Research Volunteer to assist us in our work. The successful candidate will help us with office administration and research tasks in our Westminster office for two days per week.

We are keen to involve volunteers in the work of NPE as we feel we can offer valuable opportunities to gain experience in the field of environmental policy. We recognise the diverse skills that volunteers can bring to our work, helping us to provide a strong and effective collective voice for the English National Park Authorities. Induction and training relevant to the role will be provided, and you will be an important member of our small team.

National Parks England will pay reasonable expenses for travel, meals and childcare (if required).
