We are seeking a Research Assistant for the UPSTREAM study. UPSTREAM is a NIHR HTA-funded randomised controlled trial which aims to determine the clinical and cost effectiveness of a care pathway that includes invasive urodynamics compared with standard assessment, for men with bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms who are considering surgery to relieve their symptoms. The trial is structured to include a 3-month feasibility phase in four centres, after which it is envisioned the trial will run for a further 39 months (including analysis and dissemination) in a further ten centres (UK).

The post holder will be employed to assist in co-ordinating the multi-centre (n=14) trial with a team from the Bristol Randomised Trial Collaboration (BRTC) within University of Bristol. Duties will include helping set up trial centres at participating hospitals, including supporting staff in the proper use of the trial documentation and procedures; supporting recruitment and data collection during baseline and follow-up; liaising with the trial data manager at University of Bristol and staff at centres to ensure complete and accurate data is being accrued by the study; taking actions necessary to ensure the smooth running of the trial. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to be highly organised, have good attention to detail and take an appropriate level of responsibility.
