The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We have vacancies for Food & Beverage Assistants. As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will be required to ensure that the day to day running of the catering operation is smooth and that customers are provided with a high standard of service at all times. Your responsibilities will include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, working on the tills, stocking food stations and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas. Full details of this role are included in the job description.

The role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week).

The successful candidate will have experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service in a customer focussed environment. Previous experience of working in the Hospitality industry would be an advantage. You should be a good team worker and be able to be calm and professional in high pressure situations, as it can be extremely busy during peak times.

Training and uniforms are provided. There are opportunities for development and to seek promotion in this role.

The University of Bristol’s Veterinary School is seeking to recruit a temporary Teaching Associate or Fellow in Veterinary Anaesthesia as maternity cover for a minimum 9 month period; the position is available from October. Experience of and enthusiasm for teaching is essential.

You will participate in the delivery of a high quality clinical service in veterinary anaesthesia in our world leading facilities as part of a dedicated and experienced clinical team. You will be expected to deliver high quality practical clinical teaching of undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students and to supervise postgraduate students (Residents).

You will be the holder of a Veterinary Degree that can be registered with the RCVS and will either hold, or be eligible to sit the exams for, an RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia and/or the DipECVAA.

The level of the appointment will be made according to qualifications and experience.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Technical Sales Representative based at our Oxford head office, to join our Sales & Marketing team to be responsible for one territories covering Europe and the Far East.

You will

  • manage the sales process for accounts across your territory, primarily via telephone and email
  • carry out visits to key prospects and customer accounts to develop and close sales, as well as to determine market trends, novel technical applications and product development  / collaborative opportunities
  • attend and carry out formal presentations at national immunology exhibitions and conferences to promote our products and services
  • identify and develop new and existing sales opportunities and respond to customer enquiries

  • carry out sales analysis and contribute to the development and execution of the annual sales plan

You will have a Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry or similar subject with a strong publication record. An in-depth understanding of molecular and cellular immunology and protein biochemistry is essential. Successful candidates will ideally have at least 1-2 years of experience in sales in the life-science area or, as a minimum requirement, previous experience in a customer-facing role. We are looking for a candidate who has the ability to creatively and proactively identify and develop sales opportunities around projects that often have complex requirements in organizations with multiple stakeholders. In addition, you will demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills, have a self-starting attitude, be able to manage your time effectively and have a natural enthusiasm. Although this position will require moderate travel (up to 30%) it will mainly be office-based.

We are looking for an experienced research professional to play a leading role in the coordination and project management of a major new research initiative: the Wellcome Trust Consortium for Neuroimmunology of Mood Disorders and Alzheimer’s Disease.

This is an academic / industrial consortium, drawing together leading UK universities and two global pharmaceutical companies (Janssen and Lundbeck) to investigate immunological mechanisms for treatment of these neuropsychiatric disorders. We will first conduct pre-clinical and clinical studies designed to identify and validate new biomarkers that could be used to select patients most likely to respond to immunological treatment; and then we aim to use these biomarkers in therapeutic proof-of-concept or experimental medicine studies of new drug treatments for mood disorders and Alzheimer’s disease.

The project manager role will be central to the success of this enterprise and we welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience as a research scientist or manager in an academic or industrial setting, a proven track record of effective team working and project management, and a strong motivation to contribute to the development of new treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders.

The post will be initially appointed at the appropriate point on the University of Cambridge’s salary scale, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.
