The Association for a Sustainable Green Future in Central and Eastern Europe (ASGF) is seeking a Trustee

ASGF is a newly established charity, created to raise funds in the UK for work on the impacts of international public finance in Central and Eastern Europe. The charity was founded by CEE Bankwatch Network, possibly the largest and most successful grassroots environmental campaigning network in the Central and Eastern European Region.

Bankwatch itself was set up by grassroots NGOs throughout the region to ensure that international public financing coming to the area brings real benefits for the people and the environment.

Bankwatch (www.bankwatch.org) campaigns to promote the use of international public finance for:

• localised sustainable economies,
• addressing energy poverty through energy efficiency,
and to mitigate the risk that this same public finance:
• engenders corporate tax avoidance,
• impacts negatively on human rights and democracy or,
• supports harmful large infrastructure projects.

ASGF is recognised by the UK Charity Commission. It was set up to enable UK foundations to support the work of CEE BankWatch Network. Our board of trustees is now looking for a new member with the following characteristics:

• Interest in social justice and environmental issues in Central and Eastern Europe
• Established contacts in the UK environmental funding scene

Trustees are currently volunteers and their work is unpaid. Participation in the board is interesting and takes only a few hours per month. The board of trustees currently consists of the following three members: Zoe Young, Antony Froggatt and Mark Fodor.

If you would potentially be interested in becoming an ASGF trustee and would like further information, please contact Mark Fodor at mark.fodor@bankwatch.org.
